Clubbing – Planet Angel

I will do a post soon that is an Ode to Meetup. I love it – loads of groups full of people looking to have a good time.

I found a particularly great group in the form on Alternative Nightlife. Jamina who is the organiser is absolutely lovely and is gradually working her way through her London bucket list and taking us along for the ride.

Friday night was Plant Angel, an un-advertised club night that takes place every Quarter ( I think) in different places in London. This time (my first) was in Fire Club in Vauxhall.

We met up in the Vauxhall Griffin, at 10pm (my usual bed time!) where we had drinks and waiting for everyone to turn up. The theme was (loosely) Pirates. I had let the side down as I hadn’t even managed to wear my piratical black shirt (too big, oh yes) and was reliant on some foam swords a friend of mine bought along for me.

We arrived in the queue at about 12:30, and were processed swiftly, and the bouncer immediately got in on the act with a quick sword-fight! The club, which is usually a gay club I understand, is split into 3 music area. The main room had good music, with an incredible laser light show going on.

In the main room, they also had an artist doing a day-glow painting of the goings on.

There was a rubbish music room which seemed to be populated just with people on huge amounts of psychotropics and the great room which had the real thumping music. I stayed most of the time in the main room and the great room, and had a huge amounts of fun jumping around and generally dancing like a loon.

There was also a white board which gave people an opportunity to express themselves. As you can see – some were more creative than others!

Outside was a large area, with a hot drinks table and some food on sale.

They also had a GIANT table of Lego, plasticine, giant connect 4 and giant Jenga. I spent more time out here than I really should have, but it was great chatting to random people, and everyone loved my swords.

Despite not drinking (and other substances have never been a thing for me), I only started to flag after about 4am. I gutted it out until 4:30, then realised that there was no point being a hero, so I got the 88 bus which went from right outside the club, to about 5 minutes walk from my flat.  Seriously, living in Camden is great for getting home, even if I do have this 1st World Problem…

First World Problem - Camden

I didn’t really do this kind of clubbing in my youth. It was more – go to the local cheesy disco, get hammered, try to pull, fail, get a kebab and walk home dropping it on myself. I felt so buzzed and alive after this evening that I’m really looking forward to the next one.

I’m off to Imaginarium where it’s ‘no effort no entry’ on fancy dress. I need to sharpen my game and think of a good carnival outfit. Any ideas?
